With the Elections Over, Biden-Harris Administration Continues Arming Israel at Full Speed

On Tuesday (11/12), the Biden-Harris administration concluded that Israel is not hindering aid to Gaza, and therefore will continue to fund and arm the Zionist state. Basing itself off of Israel’s own claims, the announcement comes following the expiration of a one-month deadline for Israel to meet a number of objectives on the alleged threat of restricting US military backing. Many in the Palestine Solidarity Movement saw through the empty promise as a cynical political ploy, as the deadline was conveniently set after the elections in the hopes that the Democrats would pick up some votes from pro-Palestine activists.

Following the expiration of the deadline, a spokesperson for the US State Department declined to comment on whether Israel met any of the stated objectives while repeating that the situation in Gaza is dire.

Eight international charities released a report in response to the expiration of the deadline, stating, “Israel not only failed to meet the U.S. criteria that would indicate support to the humanitarian response, but concurrently took actions that dramatically worsened the situation on the ground, particularly in Northern Gaza.”

Hamas condemned the Biden-Harris administration’s announcement, writing: “The American identification with the zionist war crimes, which seek to break the will of our people and liquidate their national cause, will only increase our heroic people and their valiant resistance’s determination to stand firm, confront, and persist, and to continue on the path of resistance until they achieve their legitimate rights to freedom, return, and self-determination.”

Israel has been carrying out systemic ethnic cleansing, mass executions, and forced displacement as it concentrates its attacks in North Gaza over the past several weeks. The area is currently experiencing a famine as the amount of supplies reaching Gaza is around its lowest point in the past year. Meanwhile, Israel continues to bomb hospitals and other civilian targets using US-manufactured weapons, destroying anything that manages to make it through the siege.

Just last week, Israel signed what it called a “landmark transaction” with the US to purchase 25 more F-15 fighter jets for $5.2 billion from Boeing. The jets are paid by US taxpayers through a military package to Israel approved by Congress earlier this year.

Over the last year, Israel has repeatedly returned to the same regions of Gaza previously claimed to be under their control as they fail to meet their military objective of eliminating Hamas. They carry out genocide in a futile attempt to undermine support for the popular resistance by attempting to kill or displace every single Palestinian. A former commander of Israeli forces in Gaza recently told The New York Times, “As soon as you evacuate those alleys and streets, Hamas will regain control immediately.”

The US-Zionist aggression also continues against Lebanon over a month after Israel began its ground invasion of the country. Israel is following the same genocidal pattern of bombings and demolitions as in Gaza, with the Israeli armed forces suffering heavy casualties and unable to secure any territory in the face of firm resistance led by Hezbollah.
