On June 3, the Department of Homeland Security detained the wife and five children of Mohamed Soliman, who law enforcement suspects to have attacked a Zionist march in Boulder, Colorado June 1. The family was taken to an ICE detention center in Dilley, Texas in the middle of the night according to monopoly media. That day, the White House stated on X that Soliman’s wife and children “have been captured and are now in ICE custody for expedited removal.” The following day, a federal judge issued an order to halt the family’s deportation proceedings.
The lawyers representing the family say it’s illegal for the Trump administration to expedite their deportation while their asylum application is pending. Soliman’s wife and children, who are all minors, have not been charged over the attack, and the lawyers state in their lawsuit against the administration that it is “patently unlawful to punish individuals for the crimes of their relatives.” One of the lawyers told monopoly media that there is “no precedent in the history of the United States for the type of collective family-based punishment…” Court documents state that the family did not have legal representation when they were taken into ICE custody, and their calls with lawyers were cut short on June 4.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on social media following the attack that “All terrorists, their family members, and terrorist sympathizers here on a visa should know that under the Trump Administration we will find you, revoke your visa, and deport you.”
The DHS states that Soliman is an “illegal alien” without presenting evidence, and that they revoked the visas of Soliman’s family. According to monopoly media, Soliman and his family entered the US and applied for asylum in 2022.
On Thursday, Soliman appeared in the Boulder County Jail court facing 118 state charges, in addition to a federal hate crime charge. The Trump Administration and monopoly media continue to label the attack as “antisemitic,” using the same spin as in the recent DC shooting of two Israeli diplomatic staffers, while there has been no available reports of the accused attacker in Boulder mentioning Jews or Judaism. According to monopoly media, the attacker threw two Molotov Cocktails at a Zionist march and shouted “free Palestine,” “end Zionists,” and “they are killers.”
The weekly march is hosted by Run for Their Lives, an organization established in collaboration with the Hostage and Missing Families Forum, which has led the propaganda war of Zionism as part of and in service to US imperialist and Zionists interests in the genocide of Palestinians and the occupation of Palestine. Their activities are funded by Zionist philanthropies such as Merit Spread and New Israel Fund, which are chaired by former IDF commanders and Israeli government officials. The attack was thus against the US-Zionist propaganda machine. In retaliation, the Trump Administration has charged him with a federal hate crime, which could lead to a life sentence if convicted.
