Like a good fisherman in troubled waters, Trump calls the “Peace Council” what, in practice, is a capitulation council. What Netanyahu calls the “end of Hamas” is the desire to perpetuate the criminal occupation, without any resistance. Behind diplomatic rhetoric lies the attempt to eliminate the only obstacle to the colonial project: the continuation of the invincible Resistance.
The new plan announced yesterday (9/29) by Donald Trump as a “solution” for the Gaza Strip is yet another farce disguised as a “peace agreement”, like so many others devised by imperialism in recent history.
The arch-reactionary US president, alongside Nazi-Zionist Führer Benjamin Netanyahu, presented a fraudulent “twenty-point document” that essentially demands the total capitulation of Hamas, the resignation of the Resistance, and the handover of Palestinian territory to an “international council” chaired by Trump himself and the decadent former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The proposal stipulates that, within 72 hours of accepting the agreement—refusal is not an option—all captives of “Israel,” dead or alive, be returned. In exchange, the Zionist entity would release approximately two thousand Palestinians and some remains. Far beyond a ceasefire, the plan mandates the “demilitarization of Gaza” and the withdrawal of the Resistance—especially Hamas—from any political role. At the same time, it suggests an “amnesty” for fighters who “agree to surrender,” as well as “safe exile” for Hamas leaders who choose to leave Palestine.
The irony is obvious. Just recall similar cases, such as in Colombia: since the FARC laid down their arms in 2016, more than 300 former combatants have been murdered by imperialism, precisely after a “peace agreement.” Now, they’re selling the same lie to Gaza, as if anyone could believe that yesterday’s executioners have become today’s “guarantors of life.” Even worse is the proposal of “safe exile” for Hamas leaders, when the last delegation sent to Doha to negotiate a ceasefire was cowardly bombed by the Zionist beast “Israel,” in a flagrant attack on another country’s sovereignty and with full Yankee logistical and intelligence support. How can they be expected to trust a “magic solution” offered by those who remain unpunished for such barbarity? It’s as if the Palestinian people have no memory.
In place of the elected Hamas government in Gaza, a “temporary committee” would be established, deliriously called the “Peace Council,” composed of “technocrats,” aka Palestinians, pro-Zionist capitulators and collaborators, and international figures handpicked by Washington and London. Tony Blair, a symbol of British colonialism and an accomplice in the criminal invasion of Iraq in 2003, figures as the protagonist of this ruse. Trump himself would be the leader, revealing the depth of cynicism of the imperialist “proposal.”
The promise that Gaza would not be occupied or annexed sounds like mockery, coming from the entity that has sustained its Nazi-Zionist colonization project for nearly eight decades. Contrary to any just solution—at least the definitive withdrawal of “Israel” from Gaza and a return to the 1967 borders, as proposed by Hamas—the plan, in fact, serves to eliminate the Palestinian Resistance from the equation, ensuring that only “experts” aligned with imperialism determine the enclave’s future.
The hidden fact is that this “plan” is proof of the unprecedented demoralization of the Zionist entity. Netanyahu, who has always claimed to be a bastion of “security” in the Middle East, now needs direct mediation from Washington to emerge from this situation with any advantage. The fact that Trump is proposing to “preside over Gaza,” even temporarily, shows how much “Israel” has lost legitimacy, even on its own terms.
The farce also represents imperialism’s attempt to conceal the fact that the supposed “peacemakers” are, in fact, the promoters of the Holocaust against the Palestinian people. Trump—like his “Democratic” rivals—and the United States have always had a strategic interest in maintaining and expanding the Zionist enclave, a key element of Yankee political, military, and economic domination in the region.
It’s no secret that Washington has poured billions of dollars into weapons, anti-missile systems, fighter jets, and economic subsidies into Tel Aviv. Nor that it has vetoed dozens of UN resolutions calling for an end to the occupation and respect for the rights of the Palestinian people. In short, US imperialism is the greatest guarantor of the policy of apartheid and genocide.
The plan also reinforces the logic of colonialism, with the creation of a “special economic zone” in Gaza, marketed as “reconstruction and prosperity,” but which in practice would only serve to open the territory and its people to the brutal exploitation of imperialist monopolies. Without any rights, the Palestinians would be left with only the crumbs of a “peace” imposed under military blackmail.
It must be remembered that the current Palestinian tragedy did not begin on October 7, 2023, but rather under the British colonial mandate that paved the way for the creation of “Israel” in 1948, and not without mass expulsions and massacres of the indigenous population. The conspiracy to hand Palestine over to Zionism was the direct work of British and, later, Yankee imperialism, which used the new entity as a spearhead to maintain its interests in the Middle East.
It’s no surprise that sectors of the Palestinian “Authority” welcomed the proposal. The organization, utterly demoralized and marked by its historical collaboration with Zionism, sees Trump’s “Council” as the illusion of regaining control over Gaza. But even this petty goal has been frustrated: Trump and Netanyahu prefer to impose an arrangement directly overseen by the US and its “allies”—of which Mahmoud Abbas and his clique of henchmen are certainly not a part.
Ultimately, the very existence of the Palestinian nation is at stake. If Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and other resistance forces lay down their arms, Gaza will be formally converted into a colonial protectorate, and armed resistance, the only guarantee of survival, will be momentarily annihilated.
The only guarantee of Trump’s “plan”—or trap—is the continuation of apartheid, occupation, and genocide. Only this time, without resistance. But while imperialism peddles its illusions, the Palestinian people continue to heroically confront the Nazi-Zionist war machine. The survival of the Palestinian cause depends precisely on the refusal to accept such capitulation.
