Only Those With the Courage To Fight Have the Courage To Win: Combat and Resist ICE Terror!

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is ripping through the country. They act to instill terror among deep sections of the working class and have increased funding and decreased oversight to do this with the most malice possible. Many of the hardest working people—those without legal documentation and who suffer the most severe exploitation of their labor power—are understandably shaken.

The Worker has encountered an increase in confusion and fear among the targeted Latino workers and takes up the duty to convey confidence and optimism in the face of such brutality and terror. Revolutionary optimism is far more powerful than despair and it is certain that we can only win the fights we take up.

When the oppressed dare to fight, when they are courageous and defy the difficulties, only then can they advance wave upon wave, and only then can they inspire others to join in. The strength of the oppressor is only temporary. In the short-term the threat may be real, but faced with the combined strength of the people they are not so tough, as the peoples of Minneapolis and Los Angeles have demonstrated.

The people must first make an appraisal of the situation, know ourselves and the oppressor, and prepare to struggle with this knowledge.

The criminal and terrorist ICE agency acts on behalf of a desperate ruling class. They act this way because they are on the verge of extinction. This is why they struggle so intensely against good working people. It is normal to be confused for a time about its appearance, but the fact is that while they appear strong it is only due to their weakness. A stable agency does not need to operate this way. If the oppressor is nearing extinction the people are advancing and will ultimately win.

Prevent an assault on a worker and you will have satisfaction. Prevent many assaults and you will be even more satisfied. Prevent the ruling class from ever terrorizing again and be completely satisfied. Avoiding the fight cannot attain peace, so fight for peace.

The people have the right and the duty to resist oppression. They have the right and the duty to respond to all favorable conditions to combat and resist ICE terror. The besieged community and the broader city must become unafraid in the practice of just and correct self-defense. Do not be deceived by the terrorists’ projection of strength and never be cowed.

With better and better organization we can rid our people of impotent thinking, of all the ideas that overestimate the oppressor and underestimate the people. We must not pin our hopes on the sensibility of those in power. The people must use the legal system but cannot rely on it since it was never designed to serve them.

The people must be prepared when the terrorists enter their neighborhoods, and this preparedness further instills confidence in victory. The forces of the working people can accumulate through confronting all kinds of complicated situations.

How the People of Minneapolis Prepared

The people of Minneapolis developed a system of real-time tracking by building massive neighborhood networks combined with physical neighborhood patrols. There were those among them who engaged in direct confrontations and disruptions. Each confrontation and disruption increased community moral, whereas the lack of struggle decreased moral and increased despair as the attacks on the people are intended to do.

Through the creation of mass communication networks and advanced warning systems, the mobilizations could take place quickly, and the most at-risk people could be warned and protected. Without organization the people are at the mercy of the ICE terrorist.

Patrols and guards were organized outside of daycare centers, schools and immigrant businesses, while the hotels hosting terrorists were confronted with round-the-clock protests. The people got together in a big way to pool funds and raise massive amounts of money to fund legal battles stemming from the struggle. Ultimately, the Department of Homeland Security’s Operation Metro Surge was beaten back, the terrorists were humiliated into a retreat and forced to change their tactics and locations.

The people must build upon and advance upon what worked in Minneapolis and what has universal value to all cities. This means going further than them by generating the kind of stable organizations the people need in order to organize and give perfect expression to their justified rebellion.

Only those with the courage to fight have the courage to win, and those who are afraid overcome their fear in the struggle. The people advance together or are petrified together; don’t hold back!
