Exactly one week ago, on March 25, the UN Security Council passed the first resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza . Not for lack of an attempt by the USA to sabotage this resolution, whose text called for a “permanent” ceasefire, and at Washington’s request was changed to “lasting”. Lasting, in the mindset of Yankee diplomats, means until the end of Ramadan. That is, in a week. This “Ramadan ceasefire”, approved in the final half of this sacred month, was proposed by Algeria, with full agreement from other Arab countries, and received almost unanimous favorable votes in the Security Council. Only the USA, which had already vetoed four other resolutions calling for a ceasefire, abstained—but with the refinement of yet another veto.
As if it were not enough that the ceasefire was already approved with a temporary mindset, like a coffee break in an ongoing genocide, the rogue State that perpetrates this genocide took the decision to simply not comply with the resolution . The Zionist State of Israel not only did not cease hostilities, but also intensified its criminal actions, with heavy bombings of the city of Rafah 1 – where more than 2 million Palestinian civilians are sheltered, most of them already refugees from northern Gaza. This Villain State gives itself this right thanks to the diplomatic blessing of its Yankee boss, godfather and patron, who judges that the approved resolution is “non-binding” . That is, that the members of the United Nations would not have the obligation to comply, contrary to what the International Court of Justice rules . With this sophistic legalese, the USA lends itself once again to its role of protecting Israel’s right to commit genocide.
But not only does the USA continue to provide legal protection at the International Court of Justice and diplomatic protection at the UN Security Council, but also military protection. In its unconditional support for the Zionist State of Israel, the Yankee “Democratic” government quietly approved the sending of more than 2 billion dollars in planes and bombs to its genocidal ally. This is to ensure that all true democrats around the world do not forget that the bombs dropped on the more than 13 thousand children already murdered in Gaza, even though launched with sadistic inscriptions in Hebrew, still have a strong Texas accent and a certain shine from Madison Square. The Zionist bloodlust is satisfied with North American trays and cups. From Korea to Vietnam, from Iraq to Afghanistan, from Latin American dictatorships to Palestine: the Yankee signature is unmistakable.
The voices of the Arab people have also been unmistakable. In Morocco, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan and other Arab countries, civilians have taken to the streets to protest for the Palestinian people . The silence and inaction of their sell-out governments, which abandon the Palestinian people to their fate, have not gone unnoticed. In Jordan, a country in the Levant region that has the best relations with Israel and where there are the largest number of Palestinian refugees in the world, Jordanian riot police attacked protesters who gathered in front of the Israeli embassy in Amman, the country’s capital. The city has seen increasingly larger demonstrations over the past five days, and repression by the Jordanian state has increased in turn. The dissatisfaction of a people suffering from a stagnant economy and 23% unemployment is increased by the lack of concrete actions in the face of the genocide of their Palestinian brothers, cousins and neighbors.
The Moroccan people have also been taking to the streets of the country’s cities, demanding that their government cut ties with the Zionist State of Israel. It is not something new, since Morocco is one of the signatories of the Abraham Accords, a betrayal by some Arab governments (United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco) in search of the “normalization” of relations with Israel in exchange for favors from Yankee imperialism. In the case of Morocco, Israel recognized Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara. The Moroccan people have already taken to the streets several times in opposition to the Moroccan government’s participation in such betrayal. But even greater treason is the Moroccan government’s use of Israeli weapons to murder civilians in Western Sahara. The Moroccan government, a client of Israel, enemy of the Palestinian people and accomplice in the genocide, will have to deal with the growing rejection of its own people.
Last Saturday, on March 30, Palestinians around the world celebrated Palestinian Land Day. It is a day to remember with regret the theft of Palestinian land by the Zionists in 1948, continuing to this day. Marked on the day when, in 1976, six Palestinians were murdered, hundreds were injured and illegally arrested in demonstrations during a strike over the confiscation of land belonging to Palestinian citizens of Israel in the Galilee region, as part of a “Judaization” plan from the Zionist government. Protests celebrating Earth Day also occurred within the Zionist State of Israel itself, where more than 20% of citizens are Palestinians with reduced rights.
The plundering of Palestinian territory, however, does not stop in the past. It is an ongoing act, unfolding and occurring alongside the genocide in Gaza. Since October 7, Israel has confiscated more than 27 square kilometers – equivalent to approximately 2,700 football fields – and forced more than 25 Palestinian villages to flee, totaling more than 1,200 people. Since October, more than a thousand Zionist terrorist attacks have been carried out by colonial militias – Israeli civilians, generally armed and endorsed by the government itself and its officials, a common practice of Zionism since even before the founding of the Zionist State of Israel. As a settlement colony that it is, Israel follows its plan to eliminate any minimally autonomous Palestinian territory, and already outlines its plans to reoccupy the Gaza Strip after completing its genocide . But for Israel’s terrorist army, the genocide doesn’t even need to be completed to begin staking out its land theft, with hundreds of Israeli flags being placed across Gaza territory.
The ceasefire was not obeyed, and Israel’s genocidal actions only intensified in the week after the approval of the UN resolution. The international diplomatic community demands that immediate sanctions be imposed on Israel. Agreements of any nature will necessarily be broken, whether military, technological, or merely formal. Revolutionaries and democrats, we must demand an end to the genocide that has been ongoing, not just for 177 days, but for 76 years. We must demand the liberation of the Palestinian people, by whatever means necessary to the Palestinian people are willing, from those who colonize, suffocate and murder them.
