In response to the US-Israel war of aggression against Iran that began on Friday (06/13), Iran has continued to launch hundreds of ballistic missiles and drone strikes on critical Israeli targets as part of its retaliatory Operation True Promise 3. Early Wednesday morning local time, the Iranian government announced its 11th wave of aerial bombardment on Israel, which has included the use of advanced “Fattah” hypersonic missiles. Prior to the attack, Iran’s top general issued a statement saying that, “the operations conducted so far have only been a warning for deterrence; the punitive operation will be carried out shortly.” The announcement included calls for Israelis to evacuate, particularly in Tel Aviv and Haifa.
So far, hundreds of casualties have been reported both in Israel and Iran.
While some of the missiles and drones from Operation True Promise 3 have been intercepted by the US and Israel, there have been many documented direct hits throughout the occupied territory, particularly on Israel’s capital Tel Aviv. These sites include: the Weizmann Institute of Science, which Israeli media has described as “the scientific and military brain” of Israel and is linked to its nuclear research; Israel’s central command building, akin to the US Pentagon; high-level military intelligence centers; military bases; and a major oil refinery in Haifa, causing it to shutdown all of its facilities.
Israeli media monopoly Haaretz reports, “Iran’s weapons are also quite precise, as some of the documented strikes demonstrate, with the missile warheads leaving behind enormous damage. The Tel Aviv and Haifa areas have suffered unprecedented damage.”
One Iranian barrage of missiles resulted in hundreds of Israeli casualties in the coastal city of Bat Yam south of Tel Aviv, with the Israeli government declaring it as a mass casualty zone. Haaretz has since reported that it will take Israel five years to rebuild the city.
The Yemeni anti-imperialist group Ansar Allah has coordinated aerial attacks with Iran against Israel, continuing its campaign of drone and missile strikes it intensified since May. Following a failed assassination attempt on a high-ranking Ansar Allah official, the organization called on anti-imperialist forces to “march” on Israel, and launched a missile attack on the Zionist entity later that day.
Throughout the war, Iran has responded tit-for-tat against Israeli strikes, exposing Israel’s genocidal role in ramping up the war on the Iranian people. For example, in response to Israel’s strikes targeting nuclear facilities, military sites, politicians, and residential buildings, Iran in turn has attacked its counterparts in Israel. Following an Israeli attack on Iranian news station IRIB, where the reporter bravely continued live broadcasting during and after the attack, Iran targeted Israeli Channels 12 and 14. A cyber attack was also launched against the Israeli propaganda arm, cutting out the sound of the reporters while playing ominous music. In response to Israel broadening its targets to the energy sector and targeting Iranian oil fields, Iran in turn knocked out the critical Haifa oil refinery. After Israel and Trump issued evacuation calls for Tehran, Iran issued a similar call for Tel Aviv. While Israel and Trump brag about air superiority over Iran, Iran has made similar claims over Israel, pointing to the fact that its missiles continue to bypass the Iron Dome and hit its targets.
An Israeli media blackout, assisted by US and European media monopolies, has limited coverage of the attacks on Israel so as to conceal the damage caused. The Israeli government has already arrested several journalists for recording Iranian strikes.
Domestically, Iranian media has released numerous reports of Iranian forces capturing Israeli intelligence Mossad operatives, truckloads of drones, and drone factories used to carry out attacks against Iran from within like it did in October 2024.
Iran has also claimed to intercept many of Israel’s attacks, including shooting down at least 4 US-supplied Israeli F-35 jets—which have never been downed before—and capturing two Israeli pilots. Israel has dismissed these claims as fabricated.
