Six days into the war that it started, Israel’s central stated objective of disarming Iran of its nuclear capabilities appears far out of its reach. The United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency reported on June 16 that Iran’s nuclear abilities remain largely intact and have not been further damaged since the initial US-Israeli attacks on Friday. The New York Times reports that only a 30,000-lb bunker bomb from the US can hit the fortified nuclear reactors, with the terrorist Trump deliberating on whether or not to give it to Israel despite claiming to not be involved.
The entire war has had the full backing of the US from the start, and could only be possible through US weapons, intelligence, and defense mechanisms. Trump himself boasted about this on social media, writing: “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran. Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured ‘stuff.’ Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.”
Israel has been begging for more direct US involvement since it started the war, knowing full well its strategic importance to US imperialism and that it is unable to win the war on its own. The US has used Israel as an attack dog to threaten Iran into surrendering, which has spectacularly backfired, and now the dog demands its owner get involved.
Both Israel and the US are also considering assassinating the Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei in an attempt to force what Trump has called for, “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” He wrote this post on social media immediately after trying to blackmail the Iranian state, writing, “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” US monopoly media has reported earlier in the war that the US government has supposedly told Israel not to carry out the assassination, though it remains to be used as a possible escalation. Iran responded with another massive wave of missiles.
However, the threat is a moot point—regardless if the assassination is carried out, forces throughout the Middle East will continue mobilizing and surrounding the Zionist entity on all fronts, and US assets in the region would likely face heavy bombardment. The day before Israel started the war, an Ansar Allah spokesman vowed that “Any escalation against the Islamic Republic of Iran is also dangerous and will drag the entire region into the abyss of war.”
Already since Israel started the war, US assets have come under attack in the region, including a base in Syria that was hit by three missiles, a base in Iraq targeted by 3 drones, a US consulate in Iraq also targeted by drones, and the US embassy in Tel Aviv, which was successfully damaged by an Iranian missile and forced to close on Monday.
The US has diverted more forces to the Middle East, hinting at an escalation and increased involvement as its existing forces along with Israel have failed to contain Iran’s attacks. US officials and military analysts have raised concerns that Israel is close to depleting its missile interceptors, worn down from the Palestinian resistance, Hezbollah, Ansar Allah, and previous Iranian operations over the last year. According to the Trump administration, the replenishing forces are aimed at providing more support to Israel in shooting down missiles, and include an additional aircraft carrier; more warships; at least 30 tanker planes used to refuel fighter jets and bombers; and F-16, F-22, and F-35 fighter aircraft.
The UK has also deployed its air force to the Middle East to support Israel. Iran has warned the US and Europe of increased attacks on their forces in the Middle East if they increase their support for the Zionist regime.
An Ansar Allah spokesman stated on Tuesday, “If things had been going in favor of the Zionist enemy—which initiated the aggression and set the targets—the Americans would not have needed to make threats and intimidation. And if direct American involvement in the battle had been easy, they would not have hesitated to enter from the start.”
