Ansar Allah Sinks Two Ships Bound for Israel While Zionist Forces Suffer Major Ambush in Gaza

Farrukh Abadi

Yemeni anti-imperialist group Ansar Allah sunk two Greek-operated cargo ships in the Red Sea destined for Israel this week only 48 hours apart. This follows increased missile attacks on Israel and successful ambushes by the Palestinian resistance in Gaza as the US-Israel continue to stall peace negotiations.

Ansar Allah and its Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) have enforced a naval blockade on Israel since November 2023 in response to the escalated US-Israel genocide in Gaza. Over 100 ships have been attacked since then, with the latest escalation marking the first casualties resulting from the blockade since June 2024.

According to Ansar Allah, the ships were attacked with unmanned ships, missiles, and drones after failing to comply with repeated warnings not to break the blockade. The crew of the first ship, Magic Seas, was picked up by a passing ship, while the crew aboard the second ship, Eternity C, saw at least four crew members killed and 6 rescued by Ansar Allah. More remain missing and search operations continue.

The YAF have also continued launching missiles at the Zionist entity as part of its aerial blockade, announced in May. On July 7, a spokesperson for the YAF announced it had targeted Israel with 11 missiles and drones, stating that the strikes successfully reached their targets, including Ben Gurion Airport, two ports, and a power station. The attacks are in response to an Israeli bombing of Yemen, which the YAF state were successfully thwarted.

In Gaza, Palestinian resistance factions continue to intensify their ambushes against Israeli forces. On July 8, Israeli media confirmed at least 19 Zionist soldiers were killed or injured in a complex ambush by resistance forces in the northern Gaza Strip, an area where Israeli officials have repeatedly claimed to have operational control of. According to one outlet, the ambush was the most severe in the past two weeks and the second deadliest since a June 2024 ambush.

The attacks are part of the Stones of David counteroffensive operation against Israel’s Gideon’s Chariot, a ground offensive launched in mid-May. While the Zionist regime claimed they would seize 75% of the Gaza Strip within two months, the facts on the ground show their deepening failures.

Following their successful ambush, Hamas released a statement noting that “the occupation has utterly failed to break Gaza’s will or subdue its resistance,” and that “The slogans of ‘crushing defeat’ and ‘complete eradication’ of Hamas have fallen at the doorstep of explosive tunnels and complex resistance ambushes.”

“This complex failure—militarily, politically, and morally—exposes the falsity of the zionist propaganda machine and proves once again that our battle has never been merely a battle of missiles and weapons, but rather a battle of awareness, will, and patience,” the statement concluded.
