Two Medical Clinic Staffers Charged After Defending Worker Targeted by ICE

Two medical staffers were charged with federal crimes on July 25 following an attempt to intervene in a man’s ICE abduction at their surgery center in Ontario, California on July 8.

The medical workers Jose de Jesus Ortega and Danielle Nadine Davila are facing federal charges of assaulting a federal officer and conspiracy to prevent by force and intimidation a federal officer from discharging his duties, as revealed by a statement from the Department of Homeland Security. Ortega was arrested July 25 while Davila is still at large.

In a video obtained by monopoly media of part of the altercation, a masked ICE officer attempts to abduct someone presumed to be an immigrant worker identified as Denis Guillen-Solis, a landscaper originally from Honduras who according to DHS statements fled the agents into the clinic along with two other workers. In the video, medical staff come to Guillen-Solis’ defense, blocking the door to the clinic and demanding to see a warrant and identification from the officers.

DHS statements claim the two clinic workers locked the door to the clinic and blocked ICE vehicles from moving. US Attorney for Central California Bill Essayli has recently pursued felony cases against at least 38 people for protesting against ICE operations or attempting to block ICE abductions according to figures cited by monopoly media.

In response to the July 8 ICE abduction, Democrat mafia representative Michelle Rodriguez stated “While I support law enforcement officers who act with integrity and uphold the law, I will never condone these cruel and lawless actions. Without accountability, we are left with armed men in masks dragging people off the street.” Rodriguez’s statement demonstrates the unity and the contradiction between the two ruling imperialist parties and their approaches to managing the crisis of imperialism. Democrats desire deceptive “good cops” and so-called “community policing,” while Republicans advocate for more unrestricted police terror.

As the crisis of imperialism deepens, the imperialists and their reactionary old State must destroy part of the means of production to stave off overproduction, resulting in layoffs and deportations, mainly of workers. The ongoing wave of deportations were recently met by mass uprisings in resistance, with their high-point in Los Angeles.
