The latest US-brokered ceasefire between the Palestinian resistance in Gaza and Israel that has been in effect since October 10 continues to be routinely violated by Israel with the backing and complicity of US imperialism and other mediators. The Palestinian resistance succeeded in securing the release of thousands of prisoners—including hundreds of resistance fighters serving life sentences—through the ceasefire, which was the initial aim of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, though other aspects of the deal continue to be violated by the Zionists.
Israeli violations of the ceasefire include: killing and targeting civilians, carrying out military activity beyond the boundaries established by the ceasefire, limiting and imposing restrictions on the entry of food below what was stipulated, preventing the entry of supplies necessary for the reconstruction of infrastructure, releasing detainees, and desecrating the bodies of those murdered by the Zionists.
On Sunday, Israel began carrying out numerous strikes across the Gaza Strip and threatened to shut off all aid after two Israeli soldiers were killed and three were injured in Rafah.
A Hamas spokesman said in connection to the annihilation: “We have no knowledge of any events or clashes taking place in the Rafah area, as these are red zones under the control of the occupation, and communication has been severed with the remainder of our groups there since the resumption of the war in March of this year. We have no information as to whether they have been martyred or are still alive since that date.”
Further exposing Israel’s justification for its genocidal bombings as a blatant hoax, Drop Site journalist Ryan Grim reported that “the White House and Pentagon knew that the incident was caused by an Israeli settler bulldozer running over unexploded ordnance — contradicting Netanyahu’s claim that Hamas had popped up from tunnels.” Unexploded ordinance from US-funded Israeli explosives remain spread throughout Gaza, causing a serious danger to Palestinians attempting to clean through the rubble, which goes unmentioned in monopoly media.
Since the ceasefire, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reports thatthe Zionists and their collaborator gangs have killed around 100 Palestinians and injured over 300 as of October 22. Among those martyred are several resistance fighters, including Taj al-Din al-Wahidi, a commander in the Al-Qassam Brigades who participated in Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, and who is the son and brother of martyrs.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) said in a statement, “The Front believes that Netanyahu’s aggressive escalation and the continuous violation of the ceasefire agreement by the occupation since the agreement came into effect reflect a premeditated intention to blow up the agreement, exploit Palestinian blood to achieve political and personal gains, ensure the cohesion of his fascist and Nazi government coalition, and keep the region on the verge of explosion, serving his political and personal agendas.”
As part of the deal, Israel has continued to deliver the bodies of Palestinians it has murdered. As of October 22, the Ministry of Health in Gaza has confirmed receiving 195 bodies, many of which showing signs of torture and extrajudicial killing, such as close-range executions, bound hands, and bodies crushed by tanks.
According to the Prisoners’ Affairs Commission, over 9,100 Palestinian prisoners remain in Israeli dungeons, imprisoned under torturous conditions.
The US and Israel have limited the number of aid trucks entering Gaza far below the agreements of the ceasefire, continuing to starve the population of Gaza. Only an average of 89 trucks have entered a day, far below the 600 that was established in the agreement.
“The occupation is exploiting the aid file to blackmail the political situation and is threatening starvation once again. The occupation has not abandoned the policy of starvation against our Palestinian people,” a spokesman for Hamas said.
Despite these violations, the Palestinian resistance continues to uphold its end of the ceasefire, releasing all Israeli prisoners of war and handing over bodies of those prisoners killed by Israel despite the difficulties of extracting bodies without heavy machinery.
Within Gaza, the resistance has continued its operations against Zionist collaborators operating in Gaza. On Tuesday, the resistance confiscated several vehicles belonging to the notorious collaborator Yasser Abu Shabab in Rafah, who receives the most financial and military backing from Israel, as well as arresting a number of his agents. Monopoly media has attempted to portray the struggle against collaborator gangs—which has popular support from Palestinians and which the various resistance factions are unified around—as a civil war taking place to justify once again intensifying the genocide against Palestinians.
Mondoweiss reports that a security source from the Ministry of Interior in Gaza stated that Hamas will soon launch its “largest” campaign against collaborator gangs “on multiple fronts, in the places where those groups are present.” The security source also mentioned that Hamas will soon reveal what it has confiscated from the collaborators and that it will “shock everyone.” The planned campaign comes after Hamas—with the backing of the other resistance factions—established an “amnesty window” for collaborators to surrender, which has now expired.
Meanwhile, in the West Bank, the Israeli military continues to carry out violent raids and killings with the active support of the collaborationist Palestinian Authority. The Israeli parliament recently passed a resolution narrowly approving the entire annexation of the West Bank. Palestinian resistance forces continue to fight back, using a variety of homemade and improvised weapons to defend themselves against the US-backed Zionist aggression.
