On December 4, notorious Israel collaborator Yasser Abu Shabab was annihilated by unidentified gunmen in the Gaza Strip. No Palestinian resistance organization has claimed responsibility.
Previously convicted of drug trafficking charges, Abu Shabab became the head of the most notorious and heavily armed Zionist collaborator gang in Gaza, the so-called “Popular Forces”. By Israel’s own admission, the gang worked directly with the Israeli Defense Forces against the Palestinian people during the US-Israel intensified genocide. Videos have surfaced of the Popular Forces and Israeli soldiers standing side-by-side.
The aim of the “Popular Forces” was to eliminate the Palestinian resistance and specifically its leadership, Hamas. This included carrying out raids, intelligence operations, and direct confrontations with Palestinian resistance fighters.
Humanitarian workers have documented Abu Shabab and his rabid band of marauders diverting relief supplies and taking control of aid convoy movements within Gaza under the direction of Israel.
With the ceasefire in January 2025 and the resistance imposing limitations on Israel’s genocide, the Zionist entity began to double down on its support of the “Popular Forces” and Abu Shabab, providing them with gear, clothing, weapons, and vehicles.
Monopoly media portrayed Abu Shabab and his group as a popular anti-Hamas movement in Palestine and praised him as an alternative to the resistance. Despite previously reporting that Abu Shabab and his gang looted humanitarian aid in Gaza, The Wall Street Journal published an article attributed to him only one month later that announced his gang as a promising new leadership in Gaza.
Abu Shabab was widely hated by the masses, with the Palestinian resistance factions putting out joint statements against collaborators and singling out Abu Shabab in particular as an enemy of the people. Even his own family publicly disowned him, calling for his execution should he be captured.
Both US and Israeli monopoly media have called the annihilation of Abu Shabab a “setback” and a “blow” to Israel. Following the October 2025 ceasefire, the Palestinian resistance made great strides toward the elimination of collaborator gangs, and the loss of one of Israel’s top operatives will facilitate this process further.
