As Cost of Living Increases, So Does Rejection of the Two Party Mafias

New polling conducted mid-November by monopoly media outlet POLITICO shows that 46% of Americans say the cost of living is the highest they can ever remember it being, with that same percentage holding the ultra-reactionary Trump administration responsible for the current economic crisis. 37% of them voted for Trump in the 2024 elections.

According to Consumer Index Price figures from September, the current inflation rate has remained stagnant since Trump took office in January, continuing the trend of the Biden administration which left it at 3%. Despite Trump campaigning on reversing inflation during the Biden administration, prices continue to rise for workers.

According to the poll, 45% of respondents list rising costs of groceries being the most difficult thing to afford, followed by 38% listing housing costs and 34% listing healthcare costs. 43% of respondents, including 31% of Trump voters, report there being less economic opportunity than in the past.

In 2025, over 1 million workers were laid off, with unemployment reaching a 4-year high in November.

Polling published by AP-NORC on December 12 found that 87% of US adults have noticed higher than usual grocery prices over the past few months. About two-thirds say they are experiencing higher than usual prices for electricity and holiday gifts, and about half of respondents see higher than usual gas prices. 68% said that the US economy is “poor,” the same figure seen in an AP-NORC poll conducted in December 2024 at the tail-end of the Biden administration.

Rejection of the political mafias is expanding, with polling conducted by The Economist/YouGov in mid-December finding that 71% and 69% of US adults disapprove of the Democratic and Republican Parties, respectively.
