US Imperialist “Board of Peace” Stalls Amid Setbacks in War

US plans to disarm the Palestinian resistance and occupy Gaza through the so-called “Board of Peace” have stalled as Iran and Hezbollah continue their defensive war against US-Israeli aggression.

Since the start of the war, Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono said talks related to the Board are now on hold.

The body, convened by US President Donald Trump on February 19, pledged roughly $7 billion from nine countries to “rebuild” Gaza through luxury developments and tourism projects under foreign control, built over the rubble of Gaza from Israel’s ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.

Real estate billionaires make up a third of the board’s membership.

The “Board of Peace” operates outside the United Nations and is dominated by far-right Zionist figures and leaders of governments closely aligned with US imperialism. The roster includes Trump and Jared Kushner, along with Britain’s Tony Blair, Hungary’s Viktor Orbán, Argentina’s Javier Milei, Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Egypt’s Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli real estate developer Yakir Gabay were also listed as participants.

The traitorous Palestinian Authority, which polices Palestinian resistance on Israel’s behalf in the occupied West Bank, was not invited to participate.

Trump and Kushner were also slated to oversee appointments to Gaza’s governing administration and direct an International Stabilization Force under US Army Maj. Gen. Jasper Jeffers. Jeffers served as a senior officer during the US wars of aggression in Iraq and Afghanistan and has more recently been tasked with efforts to disarm Palestinian resistance groups and train a new collaborationist police force. Reports indicate the stabilization force considered recruiting Palestinian gangs collaborating with Israel to staff security units in Gaza.

Palestinian resistance groups have rejected disarmament. Hamas official Moussa Abu Marzouk said: “Not for a single moment did we talk about our weapons, or any formula about destroying, surrendering or disarmament.”

Already facing major obstacles, the project suffered another blow in the face of Iranian and regional resistance to the latest US-Israeli war of aggression. Iran’s deployment of low-cost drone swarms combined with heavy missiles has strained air defenses while targeting critical US and Israeli assets throughout the region, proving no imperialist infrastructure in the region is safe.

The operations have disrupted regional travel and tourism, a $367 billion sector in the region propped up by US-backed Gulf monarchies and foreign monopolists. Flights at major hubs, including Dubai International Airport, have been disrupted, and cancellations for vacation rentals in the UAE surged to about 8,450 units in the days following the initial strikes, according to data firm AirDNA.

Hezbollah has also joined the war in response to continued Israeli aggression against Lebanon, with Secretary-General Naim Qassem saying the group is prepared for a prolonged confrontation. Fighters have launched rockets and drones against Israeli settlements, military bases, and border troops, coordinating with Iranian strikes.

The Board’s plan to turn Gaza and the surrounding region into a playground for foreign capital is proving impossible in the face of the armed Iranian and Arab resistance.
