International Anti-Imperialist League Founded at First Congress

The Worker congratulates the International Anti-Imperialist League on its founding and successful First Congress, which represents an important step in the process of unifying forces internationally under Maoism and combating dispersal. An international anti-imperialist organization is of particular importance to the World Proletarian Revolution given that the main fundamental contradiction in the world today is between imperialism and the oppressed nations. Long Live the Anti-Imperialist League!

The International Anti-Imperialist League (IAIL) was founded at its First Congress earlier this month in Colombia.

According to a report by the organization, the formation of the IAIL establishes “a formation that unifies organizations from different countries, mainly from semi-feudal and semi-colonial countries, in their struggle against imperialism.”

More than 150 delegates representing nearly 50 organizations from 14 countries participated in the Congress.

Six resolutions adopted by the Congress expressed support for the Palestinian resistance, the Iranian resistance, the Indian people’s resistance led by the Communist Party of India (Maoist) against Operation Kagaar, and the 57th anniversary of the New People’s Army (NPA) of the Philippines. The resolutions denounced the Russian invasion of Ukraine and US intervention in Venezuela, Latin America, and the Middle East.

The resolutions included calls to action against the G7 Summit in France and for a joint international campaign for May First under the slogan: “Anti-imperialists of the world, unite!”

“One of the main objectives of this Congress was the construction of the broadest possible front to confront imperialism and its lackeys,” the report states, “remaining firm in revolutionary principles and in its combative, consistent struggle, without making concessions to class reconciliation.” The report adds that the IAIL “stands firmly to achieve its objective: defeating imperialism for the liberation of the oppressed and exploited peoples.”

The Brazilian delegation stated that “the construction of this instrument is the sword that the people have to together prevent genocidal actions as the one that took place against the Palestinian people, against diverse peoples in Africa, against different people every year.”

The Congress was relocated from Ecuador to Colombia following state repression, with the report stating that “the holding of this Congress was an act of determination and a direct challenge to imperialism, in the midst of the intensification of class struggle and the imperialist assault on the Ecuadorian people.”

The International Communist League (ICL) in its 2025 May 1st statement said that there is an urgent task to “give form to the International Anti-Imperialist Front, whose main aim is to raise the support for people’s wars to a higher level.”

The report states that the resolutions, Program, and Statutes of the First Congress will be published in the near future.
