US imperialist military forces have massacred more than 53 people and injured more than 100 in Yemen in bombings which began last week. The US attacks of imperialist aggression against the Yemeni people come in retaliation for the anti-imperialist organization Ansar Allah’s solidarity with the Palestinian people, and their increased resistance to the Zionists’ unilateral end to the Gaza ceasefire. Ansar Allah, which enjoys broad support among the people of Yemen, has targeted imperialist ships in one of the world’s most important shipping lanes, located in the Red Sea.
After bypassing Congress in what amounts to an act of war, bombing the Yemeni cities Sanaa and Saada, bases of support for Ansar Allah, Trump declared that Ansar Allah, who the monopoly media refer to as “the Houthis”, would be “completely destroyed.” On social media the ultra-reactionary Chief of US imperialism decried the anti-imperialists as “barbarians,” saying “they will be completely annihilated”. Such statements have been proven utterly false, echoing the same invective against Hamas the days after Al Aqsa Flood, with the same dark oaths of genocide—yet the Palestinian Resistance continues, as does Yemen’s solidarity.
Trump’s election campaign promises to “restore peace to the world” have also evaporated in the light of the bravery and tenacity of the people of Yemen who remain steadfast in their support for the Palestinians. The events have highlighted a contradiction between imperialism’s desperation to make war on one hand and Trump’s desire to isolate expensive entanglements on the other. Reactionaries in Trump’s own party have stated that the US has no obligations in the region.
Trump’s bombing of Yemen is unconstitutional
Trump, exactly like Biden before him, clings to constitutional illusions among the people, yet jumps at the chance to violate it with unapproved military aggression. According to the Constitution only Congress—not the president—can declare war. This is called the War Powers Act, which requires Congressional approval of all military acts which exist outside of emergency response. US imperialism has been waging such illegal attacks for the past decade and both ruling class mafias bear responsibility.
The trend toward war over the Red Sea and to end Palestinian Solidarity is developing as follows:
Trump’s Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered warships, the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson and Carrier Strike Group One, to redirect their routes to the Middle East and has extended the deployment of USS Harry S. Truman and its strike group to remain in the Northern Red Sea. The anti-imperialist forces have attacked USS Truman with missiles and drones 11 times since January, five of which were in response to US imperialist aggression last week. Since December, Ansar Allah has driven the warships USS Abraham Lincoln, USS Ford, USS Roosevelt, and USS Eisenhower out of the Red Sea with repeated attacks. In escalation, Trump has ordered what amounts to the highest Naval deployment in the region since the 2003 US imperialist invasion of Iraq, in an attempt to impose a Naval blockade on Yemen.
Ansar Allah leadership, Sayyed Houthi has promised “escalation for escalation at the highest level” and has announced an aerial blockade on the Israel.
“In support of the Palestinian people and in backing their noble and valiant resistance,” the statement reads, “the missile force targeted ‘Ben Gurion Airport’ in the occupied Yaffa area with a Palestine-2 hyper-sonic ballistic missile.” The announcement proclaimed that “the operation successfully achieved its goal target.” The anti-imperialists of the Yemeni armed forces warn all airlines that that “the so-called ‘Ben Gurion Airport’ is now unsafe,” and they warn that it will remain so “until the aggression on Gaza and the siege is lifted.”
For six days straight, as part of the response to US imperialist aggression against Yemen, the anti-imperialist armed forces carried out attacks on the US warships. They characterize the US aggression as “a failed attempt to prevent Yemen from standing in support of the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza strip”. The announcement continued: “we stand in reverence before their sacrifices, and we honor their patience and steadfastness in the face of the brutal aggression.” They pledged to continue supporting the Palestinian people until the aggression is halted and the siege is lifted “regardless of consequences or outcomes.”
In the US itself, the reactionary old state has also doubled down in their attempts to crush Palestine Solidarity. Like the Resistance Forces, the people have fought back, repelling such attacks.
