The Worker issues firm international solidarity with our comrades of Servir al Publo in the Spanish state, who on May 17 were censored for over 24 hours in response to their article commemorating the 45th anniversary of ILA-80. We stand with our comrades and colleagues in the trench of revolutionary journalism, which is under perpetual threat from the ruling class. We applaud the comrades in their steadfast approach to continue their fight on the journalistic front against any attacks.
The comrades present a clear and concise expression of revolutionary journalism when they wrote:
“Since our inception, we have not aimed to be just a news blog. We have tried to merge with the people and serve the struggles of the class. Around 16 printed issues and several special supplements attest to our work, where we have given a voice to some of the poorest and most exploited workers in our class (such as the seamstresses in Elche or seasonal workers in Albacete), documented evictions of social centers (like the Bankarrota in Madrid or Ca Caixeta in Valencia), and created reports where it was necessary to tell the truth (such as the report on Paiporta after the “DANA”). Additionally, we have contributed to theoretical discussions among revolutionaries on crucial topics such as the necessity of a boycott of elections, militarization, State reaction and fascization, the freedom of all political prisoners, and police infiltration in protest camps for Palestine.”
The newspaper Servir al Pueblo is a weapon in service of the international proletariat with a strong sense of internationalism living up to its namesake. In late 2023 the newspaper published the exclusive article “Against Traitors, Snitches, and Police Agents in the Communist Movement in the USA”, written by the Maoist Communist Party (Spanish State). The Worker values the fact that this important article was made publicly available. The article strikes a clear blow at the forces of reaction, revisionism, and imperialism in rejection of the work of the Politically Degenerate Right Liquidationists.
On May 1st, International Workers Day, the comrades issued an editorial which focuses on the fact that the world revolution has not been defeated, that it grows stronger everyday. This is the serious attitude of revolutionary journalists, whose task is to educate the public on the complex and inexhaustible class struggle. In the streets, at marches and events the newspaper is distributed among the deepest and most profound masses, unfurling optimism and overflowing with enthusiasm. This inspires us on the journalistic front around the world.
It is a testament to their work and their revolutionary line that they have been attacked by the enemy—it proves that their work as journalists exposes the enemy and prepares the people. It is in the enemy’s interests that the red news organs wash themselves of their color, and forget all about the significance of ILA-80, that we become numb, atrophied and apathetic to the people’s wars and fail in our duty to uphold and defend them. Servir al Pueblo has set an example of raising the flag and never letting it drop.
The Worker encourages our readers to read and follow the work of these comrades.
The Worker is an entirely volunteer-run revolutionary newspaper free from and radically antagonistic to corporate influence. We rely on the support of our readers to sustain our editorial line in service of the working class and the reconstitution of its party, the Communist Party.
