The Zionist starvation campaign against the people of Gaza has reached new heights in recent weeks. Gaza’s Government Media Office reported on Saturday (07/26) that 122 people, 83 of which are children, have died from starvation since the beginning of the campaign, while the US-Zionist massacre of aid seekers at the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” centers continue. In the face of this genocide, the Palestinian resistance has continued to intensify its armed struggle against the Zionist occupation.
On July 26 the IDF began airdropping aid into Gaza, a practice criticized by independent observers, the Gaza government, and aid organizations due to the airdrops often falling on Palestinians and their inability to be distributed at the levels needed to stop the forced starvation. The Gaza government reported on July 27 that the first airdropped supplies were captured by looters under IDF supervision.
In line with the Zionist air drop aid theater, the IDF announced also on Saturday (07/26) the implementation of temporary “humanitarian pauses” and “tactical suspensions” of military actions in areas across Gaza. These announcements come as the Zionists suffer increasing defeats at the hands of the resistance, which has itself declared that its actions will become more bold and point-blank—and will focus in part on capturing occupation soldiers alive.
Hamas condemned the air drops and “humanitarian pauses” as “misleading propaganda of the fascist occupation government”. The statement went on to reiterate its call for the total lifting of the Zionist siege on Gaza as the only way to relieve the Zionist-imposed suffering of the people.
Aid has a long history of use by Israel as a means of massacring Palestinians and sneaking bad elements into Gaza such as spies and drugs for drug dealers and informants. In 2018, for example, Israeli military equipment was hidden among medical aid to be shipped into Gaza through the so-called humanitarian organization Humedica.
Israeli troops have destroyed tens of thousands of aid packages intended for Gaza, with official IDF policy being that any aid packages that are not being actively transported to Gaza—blockages due to Israeli blockade—are to be destroyed, as revealed in a report by the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation.
The Qassam Brigades’s “Stones of David” operations, initiated in May, are still ongoing. The most recent attacks of the operation include multiple anti-armor Yassin shells hitting Zionist tanks and hand-delivered explosives which caught armored personnel carriers on fire, killing and wounding multiple Zionist soldiers, similar to the highly-effective ambush on June 24.
The resistance is still using its extensive tunnel network to effectively outmaneuver the enemy and shows that even the mass starvation—which impacts the resistance forces as part of the people of Gaza—has not deterred them.
As part of the escalating resistance operations, on Wednesday (07/23), Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades announced that 25 Israeli soldiers had been recently annihilated or injured in Rafah, in southern Gaza. On Friday (07/25), 20 Israeli troops were injured by Palestinian resistance fighters across Gaza and the West Bank.
On July 20, the Al-Quds Brigades announced that they had attempted a capture operation from a personnel carrier in Khan Younis, but conditions did not allow for it and caused the soldier to be annihilated instead. The IDF enacted their “Hannibal Protocol” according to the Quds Brigades’ statements on the battle—this protocol calls for the IDF to deny capture or soldiers or civilians by the resistance including through attempting to kill everyone indiscriminately. A similar incident took place on July 9, where Al-Qassam fighters attacked a tank, two personnel carriers, and two military excavators, intending to capture a soldier, but similar to the Quds Brigades’ attempt, Qassam was forced to instead kill the Zionist solder.
