Political Crisis Makes Both Republican and Democrat Mafias Embrace Open Political Gerrymandering

Editorial Board

Ultra-reactionary President Donald Trump has pressured the state of Texas to redraw its congressional districts in anticipation of the midterm elections in a move that would provide the Republican Mafia five more seats in Congress through blatant gerrymandering. The proposed redrawing of the map prompted Texas Democrat Mafia members to flee the state in an effort to delay the quorum required to vote.

Political gerrymandering is a tried and true trick the ruling class uses to favor one faction of its representatives over another, and redistricting always follows the current agenda to meet its needs; however it is usually more concealed than what is taking place in Texas.

Typically, when the political crisis is less pronounced, the districts in any state are distorted and redrawn to the advantage of the ruling party in that state based on census data conducted every ten years. Doing it openly and in the middle of a decade ahead of the midterms simply drops the mask of “objectivity”, and as the mask falls from the face of one mob, the other is willing to drop its facade as well. Escalation is almost certain from both mafias to hold onto their power in the House of Representatives.

The “quorum-breaking” protest of the Democrat Mafia politicians was met with coercion and threats of arrest from the Republican mob which dominates Texas politics. Governor Greg Abbott ordered the Texas Department of Public Safety to arrest the absconding Democrat mobsters in order to restore quorum, but TXDPS lacks jurisdiction in the states the rival mobsters have fled to. In response, Trump announced that he may instruct the FBI to carry out the capture and return of the politicians. The FBI has made no comment on the matter and legal experts have stated that without commission of a crime the agency has no authority to carry out such arrests. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton asked the Texas Supreme Court on August 8 to expel from their seats 13 of the 50+ Democratic mafia members who fled the state, arguing the “quorum-breaking” departure of the Democrats is “leaving the Texas Legislature unable to force a quorum and the people of Texas without a body capable of exercising legislative power.”

Trump and his henchmen’s threats prompted New York Governor Kathy Hochul to thump her chest and desperately declare that “this is war”, while joining California Governor Gavin Newsom in threatening to mimic Trump’s attacks on bourgeois democracy by redrawing the maps in California and New York ahead of the midterms as well.

Such a “war”, which is still just ruling class politics as usual, will not strategically salvage the Democratic Mafia, which has reached historically epic failures in the electoral farce by sticking to the candidates which most conform to established order while still trying to pose as a progressive force or at least the “lesser of two evils.” What is most likely is that if New York and California redraw their maps like Texas is attempting to do, then other states will follow and the Republican Mafia will still dominate the House.

The Democratic Mafia is engaged in a lingering and very public death throes. It vacillates between whining and puffing itself up, between trying to seem the most “sensibly” loyal to establishment conservatism and flirting with identity politics and social-fascism. It is a crisis of its own making.

The Question of Race in Politics

The Democrat Mafia and the media monopolies that align with them claim that the redistricting of Texas maps erases “communities of color” by dividing up the less white areas of Texas and combining them with the whiter areas. While this is partially true, it ignores the fact that Trump and not Harris received the support of an increasing number of non-white voters who have been systematically betrayed by the false promises and out-of-touch campaigns of the Democrats, prompting them to leave the latter.

The redistricting does not indicate confidence among the Republican Mafia either; it is well established that a ruling Party suffers in the midterms based on the same fact indicated above—they swindle and scam to get into office, burning their own voter base. In Trump’s case this is those who voted for him among the working class who have suffered immensely from his policies and are likely to not remain voting as they previously did. By combining lower income with wealthier districts, the Republicans hope to offset the very low approval ratings they are now seeing while preventing those they have betrayed from going back to their rival mobsters and thereby increasing the number of Democrats in the House.

Both Mafias are Suffering from Mass Rejection and have Become Desperate

According to a poll by monopolies ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos, Trump’s approval rating is in the dumps, with the worst 100-day presidential approval rating in the past 80 years; however it is not as apocalyptic as the low approval of the Democrat mob generally. The monopolies’ survey indicates the strongest disapproval among registered voters for Trump’s economic policies, policies which he sold as beneficial to the same voters while taking advantage of the Democrat mob’s denial of the economic crisis.

The Democrats have fared even worse, hitting its lowest confidence rating over the last 33 years since Gallup has been polling on the question. And this is just the registered voters; the masses have resoundingly registered their own disapproval of both factions of the ruling class in a series of mass uprisings, an increase in strike action, and a sustained anti-imperialist movement which squares off with both mafias.

With little support to lend the ruling class parties the false legitimacy they prefer for their elections, the trend of reactionization, and the worsening global economic crisis of imperialism, both mafias begin to more openly maneuver against bourgeois democracy and democratic rights.

Imperialism is reaction all along the line; it was born in decomposition and has rotted steadily. The repression of the people and the restriction of their democratic rights becomes more pronounced, and the people are forced increasingly to rebel in creative ways. When they do, their justified rebellions are misled and trafficked with—this is a lifeline to the entire ruling class apparatus and it is not until the masses of people are equipped with their own revolutionary apparatus that the prospect of political power for the working class in the interests of the exploited and oppressed can become operational.

What is becoming undeniable, following the general global trend of advancing the world revolutionary situation, is that the ruling class in the US can no longer rule in the old way and the people can no longer live in the old way. The situation develops unevenly; the revolutions and national liberation struggles around the world only increase the favorable conditions for revolution at home, which is a historic necessity.
