Statement from the Planning Commission of the 2026 International Workers’ Day Convention

The May 1 Planning Commission organized a two-day national convention at the beginning of May for International Workers’ Day 2026 under the central slogan: LEARN FROM CHAIRMAN GONZALO, UNITE UNDER MAOISM!

The Commission is comprised of Maoist organizations across the US struggling for deeper unity toward developing the leadership of the US proletariat by reconstituting the Communist Party USA. This marks the second joint action organized by the Commission, the first one being the 2025 International Workers’ Day Convention, with the number of organizations represented on the Commission growing since then.

Over 100 workers, students, and activists from over 15 cities participated in presentations, discussions, cultural events, and passing resolutions. The convention marked a development in the struggle for Maoist unity against liquidation, dispersion, and police work.

The convention began with reading off the Joint Statement of Maoist Organizations in the US in Commemoration of International Workers’ Day 2026 followed by the International Communist League’s Statement for the 1st of May.

The overarching theme of the convention was to unfurl joint and parallel actions to advance the campaign to Learn from Chairman Gonzalo, Unite Under Maoism. The development of Maoist unity is based on first learning from Chairman Gonzalo, who defined Marxism-Leninism-Maoism and taught that Maoism is principal. This process is deepened through the ideological struggle for unity between and within Maoist organizations and by increasingly coordinating mass work toward unified efforts, which includes the 2026 IWD Convention.

Organizations presented on the development and next steps around the struggle for Maoist unity in the US and internationally; the necessity of supporting the national liberation struggles as the base force of World Proletarian Revolution and examining their connection to the International Communist Movement; deepening the wave of workers struggles in the US; and opposing US imperialist militarization domestically and internationally.

Attendees discussed and debated the positions of presenting organizations and drew lessons from each others’ work. Participants chanted the slogans of the convention: “Learn from Chairman Gonzalo, Unite Under Maoism!”, “Implacably and Inseparably Combat Imperialism, Revisionism, and Reaction!”, “Reconstitute the Communist Party USA!”, and “Proletarians of all Countries, Unite!” Musicians performed revolutionary songs and everyone sung the Internationale, the anthem of the international proletariat.

The convention expressed support for the heroic resistance forces in the Middle East— particularly the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, Ansar Allah, and the Islamic Resistance in Iraq—and the People’s Wars in Peru, India, Turkey, and the Philippines. Attendees denounced US imperialism, Israel and Zionism, the Indian government’s genocidal Operation Kagar against the Communist Party of India (Maoist), and the Filipino government’s recent massacre of 19 people on Negros Island in its operations against the Communist Party of the Philippines, including the murder of Filipino-American activists Kai Sorem, a youth activist from Seattle, and Lyle Prijoles, a human-rights activist from California.

The convention was an important step in uniting under Maoism and was a blow to revisionism, especially liquidationism, subjectivism, and sectarianism. Politically Degenerate Right Liquidationists and police work were denounced at the convention. We are well-aware that the development of our unity has caused the ire of those who scatter to social media for rumor campaigns and police work, including those who do so under the cover of Maoism. These attacks will only intensify as our unity increases and we make greater strides in our work. We see the animosity of snitches and those who promote demoralization and disunity as a good thing, a sign we are making progress and deepening our resolve.

At the end of the convention, resolutions were discussed and united around and participants left with an enthusiastic commitment to deepening the ideological struggle and the class struggle.

The following resolutions were adopted by the Commission:

1. We commit to support and give impulse to the two-line struggle, deepening the two-line struggle under the slogan Learn from Chairman Gonzalo, Unite Under Maoism. We place emphasis on the first part of the slogan as principal in order to unite under Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, principally Maoism, with the contributions of universal validity of Chairman Gonzalo, to make a leap in the struggle against dispersal and for reconstitution.

2. We commit to struggle toward carrying out parallel and joint actions in commemoration of proletarian holidays and around mass work.

3. We commit to prioritize national work over local work, understanding that national work is primary over local work in the reconstitution process.

4. We commit to increase our integration by going lower and deeper among the masses, principally the proletariat.

LEARN FROM CHAIRMAN GONZALO, UNITE UNDER MAOISM!

IMPLACABLY AND INSEPARABLY COMBAT IMPERIALISM, REVISIONISM, AND REACTION!

RECONSTITUTE THE COMMUNIST PARTY USA!

PROLETARIANS OF ALL COUNTRIES, UNITE!

Signed,
May 1 Planning Commission
