Joint Statement of Maoist Organizations in the US in Commemoration of International Workers’ Day 2026

Proletarians of all Countries, Unite!

International Workers’ Day is a proletarian holiday born out of the combative struggle of the international working class for the eight-hour work day. Every year, revolutionaries commemorate this holiday in the spirit of uniting their ranks and combating and resisting imperialism, revisionism, and reaction.

International Situation

Over the past year, the US and other imperialist powers have accumulated more defeats at the hands of the brilliant armed resistance of the oppressed nations, exacerbating the inter-imperialist competition for domination of the Third World amid the deepening general crisis of imperialism, which is based in cyclical economic crises of overproduction.

These processes embody the contradictions among the imperialist powers, between the imperialist powers and the oppressed nations, and between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie. Of these, the antagonism between the imperialist powers and the oppressed nations plays the main role in the development of the world situation today.

The people of Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, and Iraq have dealt severe and consequential blows to US imperialism, its mad dog Israel, and the lackey Gulf states.

Through 40 days of war, the Iranian government and its allies blew up US supremacy in the region through 100 waves of its heroic defensive war “Operation True Promise 4”. US military bases and economic assets in the region have suffered irreparable damage that forced the sole hegemonic imperialist superpower to agree to negotiations with Iran on the latter’s terms. Meanwhile, the US and Israel have once again been unable to make any headway with the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, and as always resort to open genocide to compensate for their failures.

Despite all their threats of total annihilation and total victory, and bragging about the assassinations and war crimes they carried out, beneath the pathetic and unstable psychological campaign of the US and Israel is revealed a desperate military campaign that failed to achieve any of its objectives.

In Latin America, the US continues its aggression in order to strengthen its domination of the region in collusion and contention with other imperialist powers. After encircling Venezuela for months and murdering fishermen off its coast, US imperialist thugs kidnapped the Venezuelan president and first lady while bleeding concessions from the sell-out Interim President Delcy Rodriguez.

US imperialism threatens military invasion of Cuba while intensifying its economic strangulation with the aim of starving the people into submission, who have vowed to respond to any aggression in defense of their sovereignty.

The US is the sole hegemonic imperialist superpower in the world today and therefore the number one enemy of the people of the world.

Underlying the increasing aggression of US imperialism is the imperialist economic crises of overproduction, a cyclical process which guarantees the crisis after the next will be only worse. This heightens competition among the imperialist powers for domination of the Third World to maximize profits. The political crises in turn exacerbate the economic crisis, as is seen today with the energy crisis ensuing from the war on Iran.

Domination of the Third World allows the imperialists access to natural resources, of particular importance being rare earth minerals necessary for the production of the latest military technology; a source of export for commodities and finance capital; and military projection, as the imperialist powers seek to encircle and counter-circle one another.

The imperialists cannot act otherwise but to keep starting wars, carrying out genocide, and face defeat, only to start again until their final defeat. The wars of national liberation, today raging most fiercely in Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine, see the mass mobilization of the people in defense of their sovereignty that provide lessons in heroism for the people of the world in combating and resisting imperialism. These comprise the most widespread revolutionary forces, and form the base of the World Proletarian Revolution. The shining People’s Wars, which are led by Marxist-Leninist-Maoist Communist Parties—today carrying out New Democratic Revolutions in Peru, India, Turkey, and the Philippines—represent the most advanced expression of class struggle against imperialism in the world today, leading struggles toward socialism and communism and the complete overthrow of imperialism and all reaction.

Domestic Situation

In the US, the trend of reactionization has deepened, with power increasingly concentrated around the executive branch toward presidential absolutism, the political manifestation of more monopolization. This corresponds to more oppression and exploitation, which gives rise to more explosive mass movements.

The movement against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has taken massive and combative proportions over the past year, forcing the Trump administration to make a temporary retreat, including withdrawing federal forces, changing tactics, and firing top officials. These are all conquests of the justified rebellion of the masses.

The mass deportation campaign seeks to discipline a rebellious workforce by terrorizing foreign-born workers in an attempt to alleviate the imperialist economic crisis. These mass deportations are attacks on the entire working class, increasing exploitation, carrying out mass layoffs, and stoking chauvinist divisions among the class. Instead of intimidating the people, the Trump administration’s “shock and awe” tactics resulted in millions of people across the country mobilizing against ICE, with street combat against federal forces taking place notably in Los Angeles and Minneapolis, where state terror was most brazen.

Strikes and various workers actions continue at a relatively high rate across the US and show signs of greater politicization, particularly around support for Palestine and opposition to ICE and imperialist war. Sell-out business union leaderships have had to take on a more militant posture to appease the increasing combativity of the working class. In spite of the machinations of business union leadership, already tens of thousands of workers have gone on strike across the country in 2026, including healthcare workers, teachers, steelworkers, meat packers, and arms manufacturing workers.

Discontent among the broad masses in the US has grown over the past few months due to the government shutdowns, austerity coupled with record militarization, and the unpopular war against Iran. Anti-imperialists in the US have a duty to support Iran in the face of the brutal imperialist war being waged against them. This worsening domestic situation has resulted in the Trump administration’s approval rating reaching its lowest point yet, and both the Democratic and Republican mafias face hostility as they approach the midterm electoral farce.

Learn from Chairman Gonzalo, Unite Under Maoism

While the objective conditions in the US exist for socialist revolution—the violent conquest of power by the proletariat—the subjective conditions must be generated by the revolutionaries.

The current stage of the revolutionary process in the US is characterized by the relative dispersal of revolutionary forces. In its struggle for power, the proletariat has no other weapon but organization; its highest form of organization is its party, the Communist Party—opposed to all old parties formed by the imperialist ruling class. In order to realize its economic interests of ending exploitation, the proletariat must first seize political power, a process that is led by the Communist Party, which concentrates the proletariat’s best and most far-sighted elements. The Party initiates and leads People’s War for the conquest of power through the incorporation of the people in war against the parasitical ruling class.

Since the Communist Party USA was liquidated in 1944, the principal task of revolutionaries in the US is to reconstitute the Communist Party USA, which is expressed in the current task of learning from Chairman Gonzalo and uniting under Maoism.

Through the class struggle and the ideological struggle, revolutionaries across the US are working toward unity under the ideology of the international proletariat: Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, principally Maoism, with the contributions of universal validity of Chairman Gonzalo.

The Chairman of the Communist Party of Peru and leader of the undefeated People’s War, Chairman Gonzalo’s main contribution is defining Maoism. In order to unite under Maoism, revolutionaries must first grasp Maoism, which means learning from Chairman Gonzalo.

For revolutionaries in the US to effectively combat dispersal, we must assume the class standpoint of the international proletariat, and dispense with all sectarian small group thinking and more fully defend, uphold, and apply Maoism. This is all towards the goal of increasingly embodying Maoism to better defend it against revisionism. To embody Maoism is not a question of study, but a matter of arming the mind in order to arm the hands so that the arms can fight better.

The struggle for ideological unity takes place alongside and is deepened by mass work, bringing Maoism to the masses. This means educating the masses, mainly the working class, in Maoism, and mobilizing them for the reconstitution of the Communist Party USA through the process of combining their struggle for daily demands with the conquest of power. Revolutionaries must act as a lever among the masses and give organized expression to their militancy beyond the bounds of what is permitted by the ruling class, the pacifist union bureaucrats, and the revisionists and opportunists embedded in the mass movements.

Deepening ideological unity while bringing Maoism to the masses is manifested in joint and parallel actions by revolutionaries across the US. Over the past year, this has included actions in support of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and their ongoing People’s War and against the genocidal counter-revolutionary “Operation Kagar”. The Indian Old State has utterly failed to reach its goal of eliminating the Maoist movement in the country by March 31, 2026—even after the traitorous betrayal of the revisionist and liquidationist Sonu group and the martyrdom of dozens of comrades and leaders, including the General Secretary of the Party, Comrade Basavaraj, the People’s War continues.

The unity of revolutionaries has blossomed through joint and parallel actions against ICE terror, in commemoration of International Working Women’s Day, and International Workers’ Day.

The development of Maoist unity is a blow to dispersion, liquidationism, sectarianism, and revisionism; it is an affirmation of the principles of practicing Marxism and not revisionism, uniting and not splitting, and being open and aboveboard and not intriguing and conspiring.

Imperialism, the highest stage of capitalism, is a parasitical system in decay that only impedes the development of humanity. Capitalism has outgrown its use and has thereby created the objective conditions for its overthrow. What remains is for revolutionaries to bring the subjective conditions up to par with the objective conditions, developing revolutionary consciousness within the class struggle. Today in the US, this process is embodied in the slogans:

Proletarians of all Countries, Unite!

Learn from Chairman Gonzalo, Unite Under Maoism!

Reconstitute the Communist Party USA!

Implacably and inseparably combat imperialism, revisionism, and reaction!
