Peasants Annihilate Israeli Troops in the West Bank

Peasants in the West Bank resisted an attack on their village by armed Zionist settlers and accompanying Israeli soldiers on July 24.

That day, Israeli soldiers and a gang of armed settlers invaded Tell, a village located outside of Nablus in the West Bank. They sought to destroy Palestinian homes and evict their residents as part of their escalating campaign of land-grabbing and terror.

Video of the battle shows peasants mobilizing to defend their land against the invading Zionist soldiers and settlers. An unarmed peasant took the firearm of one of the invaders during the skirmish and turned it on the enemy, killing two soldiers and injuring three more Zionists, according to reports from Israeli media.

The Zionist soldiers and settlers fired on the defiant peasants, killing four and injuring four more, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

In further genocidal reprisal for the act of resistance, Israeli authorities demolished the Palestinian fighter’s home, besieged the nearby town of Nablus, conducted several raids, and set fire to homes in Palestinian towns throughout the area, detaining over 70 Palestinians in the process.

Since Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, Israel has accelerated its genocidal land confiscations, raids, unlawful detentions, and field executions of Palestinians in the West Bank. The collaborationist “Palestinian Authority” has supported the campaign by disarming, arresting, and summarily executing suspected resistance fighters.

Hamas spokesperson Mahmoud Mardawi stated in response to the heroic defense of Tell, “The notable rise in resistance operations in the West Bank, including stabbing and shooting attacks, as well as the bravery of the revolutionary youth and the residents of steadfast villages in confronting settler gangs, is evidence of the failure of the occupation’s attempts to subjugate our proud people, break their will, or deter them from defending their land and holy sites and preserving their dignity.”

He continued, “The volcano of the West Bank has begun to rise from the ashes to take revenge on the occupation for all the crimes it has committed against the Palestinian people in the West Bank, Gaza, and throughout Palestine.”

The Palestine Chronicle notes that Israel is intensifying its aggression against the West Bank to preempt the opening of another front against its beleaguered forces and compensate for its military defeats in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and Iran.

On July 25, Israeli Army Radio reported that an armed Israeli settler in the Palestinian village of Susiya was injured after young Palestinians seized his weapon and opened fire on him before safely withdrawing from the confrontation. Israeli authorities responded with another vicious campaign of raids in an act of collective punishment.
