Netanyahu Visits Washington DC, Maintains Genocidal “Ceasefire” Proposal and Threats Against Iran

Throughout last week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Washington DC to discuss ceasefires with the Palestinian and Iranian resistance and negotiating the terms of the 17% tariff imposed on Israel. No agreements were reached regarding a ceasefire or modified tariffs, while the two countries remain unified in their genocidal and vain ambitions to eradicate the Palestinian resistance.

Before Netanyahu’s meetings, Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer—also visiting DC—reached an agreement with the US that Israel will attack Iran if it begins to replenish its inventory of ballistic missiles. The Israeli government itches to pull the US into another war with Iran while its cities still sit in ruin from the previous war. Earlier this month, satellite imagery proved the claims of the Iranian government that both Israeli and US military infrastructure were successfully hit as part of Iran’s Operation True Promise 3 last month.

During his meeting with top US officials, Netanyahu repeatedly insisted on the complete disarmament of Hamas for a long-term ceasefire. The Nazi-Zionist prime minister brazenly made clear that no matter what ceasefire is established, he will continue the war until Hamas is destroyed, saying to the press after the discussion: “We have still to finish the job in Gaza, release all our hostages, eliminate and destroy Hamas’ military and governance capabilities…”

Regarding the temporary ceasefire, Taher Al-Nono, the media advisor for the Head of Hamas’ Political Bureau, said in May: “We want a permanent ceasefire, not a temporary one that ends after 60 days, and we want aid to enter Gaza completely, freely, and without interruption during the 60 days.”

On the same day Netanyahu made his comments about “destroy[ing] Hamas”, Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades carried out what has so far been the second deadliest ambush against Israeli troops in Gaza since June 2024, with Israeli media reporting at least 19 Zionist soldiers killed or injured.

In a direct challenge to Nazi-Zionist Netanyahu’s statement from Capitol Hill, Hamas released a statement of its own, noting, “The slogans of ‘crushing defeat’ and ‘complete eradication’ of Hamas have fallen at the doorstep of explosive tunnels and complex resistance ambushes.”
