On Friday, January 26th approximately 100 anti-imperialists convened a rally to confront the Memorial Service for Henry Kissinger in New York City. The rally took place outside of the church where the service for Kissinger was held. The Worker has previously written of his death here.

One protester could be heard expressing that “We mourn the millions he killed. We mourn those in Cambodia, in Vietnam, in Laos, in Bangladesh, in East Timor, in Chile, in Argentina, in Cyprus, in Iraq, in Palestine, and in Angola. As we mourn the dead, we also honor those who fight to live. The litany of resistance groups that have stood up to Kissinger’s imperialism outlive Henry Kissinger.”

A few minor altercations took place between protesters and the police as well as with a Zionist in plain clothes. Revolutionary anti-imperialist in attendance carried a large banner emblazoned with Chairman Mao’s slogan “IT IS RIGHT TO REBEL” followed by the caption “Kissinger burns in hell.” Other posters and banners could be seen bearing the slogan “Kissinger War Criminal,” as well as posters denouncing US imperialism and in support of Palestinian resistance.
