International Workers Day is a day of combat and resistance of the international proletariat, and this year it marks the second anniversary of the re-foundation of The Worker.
On the International Situation
The cyclical crisis of imperialism is a crisis of overproduction which has become more acute since 2019. This year it has reached a new level of severity. The economic crisis is global; it does not fail to hit every country on Earth, with the most devastating impact to the third world nations oppressed by imperialism, mainly US imperialism.
It is the third world where extreme oppression reigns to preserve and augment exploitation and where the vast majority of the masses are concentrated—as a result, these comprise the storm centers of the World Proletarian Revolution and represent the greatest epics of the international class struggle, forging the most advanced revolutionaries led by their Communist Parties and organizations. Sacred among these are the People’s Wars which raise Maoism, asserting its leadership for all the world to see. The most ideologically advanced in the world today, forged in the midst of intense class struggles and the economic crisis, is the International Communist League which represents a leap to overcome the dispersal of revolutionary forces internationally. The Communists represent the leadership of the World Proletarian Revolution, and everywhere there is no Communist Party it must be constituted or reconstituted, sheltering under a single banner of Maoism and under a single center—the reconstituted Communist International.
It is the third world where epic struggles for the liberation of oppressed nations are fought, and these provide the basic force of the World Proletarian Revolution. The nations cry out for liberation and go to battle for their right to self-determination. The war of national liberation and resistance in Palestine proves that when the people of small and oppressed nations rise up, the most technologically advanced and well-funded armies cannot defeat them, no matter how much blood they spill. And through this glorious example, people all over the world are inspired to action. It proves all the genocide and plots carried out by imperialism and its lackeys, all the bombs and weapons, are signs of weakness and desperation and not strength or courage. It proves that those who have nothing are the ones who will win everything!
The crisis has also provoked the bloodthirsty US imperialist ruling class to increase its exploitation and domination over Central and South America, a strategic part of the third world Storm Centers of the World Proletarian Revolution. It is in these countries where we find the most advanced ideological guidance over the pending agrarian revolutions which are New Democratic Revolutions. These inspire the entire world with the audacity and durability in the face of the latifundium—the big landlords—and the bureaucrat capitalists. We highlight the special importance of the role played by the workers and peasants of Peru and Brazil. Several great democratic revolutionaries have passed this year, and it is with great optimism that we affirm their deaths mean generating even more just like them.
On the journalistic front, the democratic and revolutionary internationalist newspapers highlight the important developments and provide a basic guideline which inspires the reader to do more than to consume news, but to take an active part in the transformation of the world. In the pages of A Nova Democracia, Periodico Mural, Red Herald, and others we encounter undeniable evidence that the path is tortuous but the future is bright.
Even in old Europe the revolutionary forces of the proletariat and the people have made great strides; these countries too promise that the class will generate its Party in the difficult process of class struggle and two-line struggle. Against the reactionaries and revisionists, international solidity emanating from the European continent is indefatigable and sets a glorious example. Led by German imperialism, Europe faces the fallout of economic crisis in its own way—less than the third world but more than the US—and the conditions combined with the activity of the revolutionaries guarantee that the continent will be rocked with explosive mass rebellions.
With every successive and increasing economic crisis of imperialism the basic laws of Marxism are affirmed: the World Proletarian Revolution has entered the stage of Strategic Offensive, meaning that the old order of imperialism complemented by social imperialism cannot survive much longer, that its wars and threats of wars spell its inevitable doom and must be confronted with People’s War, that the threat of World War—which is one solution the imperialists seek to get themselves out of crisis—must be confronted and defeated with World People’s War.
The accumulation of wealth is concentrated in fewer and fewer hands, while immense poverty is poured upon the broad masses, with more and more sinking into the ranks of the toilers; this is a revolutionary law and expedites the capitalists production of their own gravediggers on a mass scale. The old mechanisms of the bourgeoisie and its parliamentary maneuvering are no longer valid as all the contradictions sharpen, leaving the path of revolutionary violence as the only universal path valid in all the world. The outcome of the class struggle has not been decided, and it is only political power for the proletariat, the dictatorship of the proletariat, led by its Party, which can steer the world away from endlessly repetitive crises.
On the Domestic Situation
In the USA, the pace of the reactionization of the old state has increased rapidly. While this process has been deep and ongoing, the reactionary agendas and plans have been expedited in forms most apparent to growing numbers of the people. Still, with the growing resistance to attacks on workers rights and the democratic rights, factions of the imperialist ruling class desperately seek to gain influence and control over the mass movements. This has been most apparent in the Democratic mafia’s control over mass protests this year. On one hand they capitalize on the just outrage of the masses, while on the other hand they maneuver the people into supporting reaction in another garb. The same has been done by the Republican mafia in their fight to establish exclusive control over the state bureaucracy. Both mafias promote populism and reaction under the false framework “conservative verses liberal,” all in order to draw the people into the electoral farce—which each year becomes more of a sham.
The deepening crisis of imperialism has resulted in a crisis of legitimacy for both ruling mafias, exacerbating the contradictions between them and making it more necessary to suppress the masses beneath them. This compliments the fact that the economic crisis has thrown the US imperialists’ hegemony in the world into contention. The US is the world’s sole hegemonic imperialist superpower and all the recent activity of both ruling class mafias, their agreements and disagreements, rest on how to survive the crisis and maintain their world domination. Trump’s war plans, maneuvers and executions are a continuation and development of Biden’s. Everywhere and especially in the General Middle East the US imperialists have been humiliated by a string of defeats, though the monopoly media which resides in their respective pockets does everything in its power to twist the facts into something less embarrassing for their masters.
The student movement, with their unmatched energy, has heroically taken up the cause of international solidarity and they have paid a heavy price for daring to evoke their right to rebel against reaction. The price, however, is unable to break the resolve and audacity of the best and brightest among the student movement. In these battles new leaders are forged and a higher education is acquired. Most importantly, the student rebellions replenish the ranks of the revolution on this front as they persist in difficult circumstances to find the correct ideas on moving things forward.
Every day of the crisis teaches the working class about the real nature of their conditions, and the most developed apparatuses of the ruling class are placed strategically to prevent them from making leaps in class consciousness; in imperialist countries opportunism can reign for a long time, but not forever. The class longs to rebel and it threatens the old order with its mounting demands and increasing strike actions. The aristocracy of labor can only hold back the floodwaters for so long, and they are already tired. This makes the duty of all revolutionaries even more pressing: those with class consciousness increase their struggles to transmit it, and the genuine revolutionaries have learned well that communists disdain to hide their views for this reason. It is the working people who are affected the most in the crisis, and their vast majority still exists outside of bourgeois organizations. Their lack of participation in the electoral farce indicates that their disillusion with the state of things is primed to take a leap—provided the revolutionaries do their jobs.
Revolutionary forces in the US remain dispersed, but far less so than last year; this dispersal has become disdainful and undesirable to increasing numbers, and the campaign to unite under Maoism emerges as the locomotive of reinvigorated efforts of the revolutionaries to struggle for unity in the battles for reconstitution of their Party. In the contradiction between liquidation and reconstitution, there are those who align themselves on the basis of who struggles for unity under Maoism and who seeks to preserve small groups in dispersal. Demarcations have been made and the two-line struggle has deepened.
May 1st 2025 marks the second anniversary of the resumption of The Worker and in this time it has steadily marched toward the resumption of the Daily Worker. It has grown exponentially while increasing the frequency of articles and expanding distribution. Marked improvements have been made in its content and ability to answer the questions of our times; its influence over the conscious activity of the masses has improved and most importantly it has been grasped by more workers who through its pages increase their own class consciousness in the struggles they face.
The Worker struggles to fulfill the task outlined and demonstrated by the great Lenin, that of linking together the dispersed circles of Marxists and consolidating them ideologically, offering central guidance. It was with great struggle that these conquests have been made, but the road is still very long and stretches far. The Worker will not be satisfied with the existence of a daily newspaper and full staff; our articles already come out almost daily. The Worker must maintain its post, redoubling its efforts, expanding its reach until it is the newspaper of every honest worker. In the coming year leaps will be made in carrying out the basic objectives outlined in the “Declaration of the Editorial Board of the Worker”. In it we stated that:
“The main feature of the revolutionary movements in the US is temporary disunity. There are numerous and dispersed nuclei of revolutionaries whose character is, at this stage, disorganization and amateurishness; this must be overcome with cohesive theory and practice, with revolutionary tradition and adherence to the only scientific doctrine of the working class.”
and one year ago that:
“Only striving to accomplish a newspaper based on the most advanced scientific ideology of the working class can begin to overcome such conditions, to link up the best and most revolutionary circles with the most revolutionary and class conscious workers, forging and consolidating ideological unity. We have made a small start; it is only with accomplishing greater unity that the next leap will be accomplished.
“In the coming year we hope to improve the readability of our articles for common workers, expanding our appeal to the masses. This means less phrase-mongering, followed by a more expansive viewpoint. We aim high to diversify media to include not only the printed and digital word, but audio and video media as well, with increased production of shorter articles on the most important topics affecting the working class. We intend to expand our workers’ study groups, cultural events, and presentations with the inclusions of those whose views do not align entirely with our own, placing solidarity and democratic camaraderie in its rightful place.”
The Worker has made progress on all of these problems, sharpening ideologically, politically, and organizationally. Most importantly, the greatest strides have been made in the struggle for ideological unity, with dozens of political and cultural events under our belt and increased agitation and propaganda among the masses resulting in more and better study groups. With the increase in volunteers we approach the pending problems of diversification of media, and in the past year we have overcome much of the novice errors present in the start of our publication.
This International Workers Day we express confidence in our work, in its ability to unite more, and patiently persist in our tasks until they have been fulfilled and new ones arise. We are resolved to increase our work among the people, to improve in our internationalist duty, to persist in hard struggle against revisionism and opportunism, and to continue the campaign to unite under Maoism! In the coming year we intend to work tirelessly at fulfilling our pending tasks, to continue offering ideological guidance with greater practical advice, and finally to forge ourselves in the furnace of class struggle, red flag in hand.
The Worker is an entirely volunteer-run revolutionary newspaper free from and radically antagonistic to corporate influence. We rely on the support of our readers to sustain our editorial line in service of the working class and the reconstitution of its party, the Communist Party.
