Mass Demonstrations Around the World Condemn US-Zionist Aggression on Iran

Anti-imperialist protests in support of Iranian self-determination have spread across the Middle East and beyond since the US and Israel launched their war of aggression on February 28.

Iranian media report large demonstrations and funerals taking place regularly in numerous cities across the country since the start of the war. The mass demonstrations reportedly have had millions of Iranians participating in them, condemning the US-Israeli aggression and mourning the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and others who have been murdered by the US and Israel.

On March 3, thousands attended a mass funeral ceremony in the city of Minab, Iran for the 165 girls murdered in a US-Zionist strike on a school at the start of the war. The crowd erupted into defiant chants against the aggression, shouting “No surrender!”

In Baghdad, Iraq, protesters stormed the US consulate in the US-administered “Green Zone” on March 1. Iraqi police attacked the crowd with tear gas and water cannons.

Over the past week, Iraqi resistance forces have continuously attacked US forces in Erbil with drones and rockets, including a military base and hotels where US forces are suspected to be hiding.

On March 2, thousands protested Khamenei’s assassination in Indian-occupied Kashmir. The Indian old-state, led by the fascist Prime Minister Modi, ordered all educational institutions to be closed beginning on March 3, banning public gatherings, and slowing mobile internet services.

In Karachi, Pakistan, at least 10 people were killed and 30 injured by US Marines in combative protests as hundreds stormed the US consulate on March 2. “We will burn the American consulate in Karachi. God willing, we will avenge the death of our leader,” one protester was quoted in a video on X in reference to the assassination of Khamenei.

On March 1 and March 6, tens of thousands flooded the streets of Yemen’s capital Sanaa in solidarity with Iran and condemnation of the US-Israeli aggression. Protesters carried flags of Iran, Yemen, and Palestine, and portraits of Khamenei.

Yemen’s Ansarallah has stated earlier this week in support of Iran’s war of national resistance, “our hands are on the trigger at any moment that developments require.”

In Lebanon, Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Naim Qassem remarked that the US-Zionist aggression would “affect everyone without exception if left unchallenged.” On March 1, in solidarity with Iran, tens of thousands marched in the capital Beirut. Hezbollah launched strikes against the Zionist entity later that night.

In Nigeria, between March 1 and March 3, demonstrations in solidarity with Iran took place in the cities Kano, Lagos, Kaduna, Sokoto, Bauchi, Niger, Yobe, Gombe, Kebbi, Suleja, and Abuja. Protesters carried Iranian, Palestinian, and Nigerian flags, while dragging American and Israeli flags across the ground.

Protests condemning the US-Zionist war of aggression against Iran have also taken place in Bahrain, Venezuela, Indonesia, US, UK, and France, among other countries.

An Iranian protester at an anti-war demonstration in Austin, Texas told The Worker: “It’s very evil to attack Iran because Iran didn’t surrender to US imperialist power. The purpose is just to gain all of the resources, and it’s evil.”
