Workers Endure Sexual Assault and Body-Wrecking Work Speeds at Quanta Computer in Tennessee

Quanta Worker Correspondent

I’ve been working at the Quanta Computer’s Tennessee plant for over two years. My coworkers and I build servers for massive artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, and a large portion of us are women. We endure constant strain, sexual assault and toxic work environment while the company makes billions in profit at our expense.

Quanta Computer is a Taiwanese manufacturing company making the servers for “hyperscale” AI data centers owned by companies like Amazon Web Services, Meta, Elon Musk’s XAI, and Google. It made $58.1 billion in sales and $1.56 billion in profits from January to June of 2026.

Their Tennessee plant has over 3000 employees. In my building, most of the workers are foreign-born women. Most women over 60 work at the warehouse, transporting heavy hardware components under extreme heat. I work in the production line, where my coworkers and I have to make hundreds of servers in a single 10-hour shift without being allowed to sit or stretch our bodies, even when the line isn’t moving.

My building’s leader is extremely despotic and always plays favorites. There are good men working at Quanta but none of them are rewarded by him. One of this leader’s favorites is a male coworker known for approaching women coworkers from behind and grabbing their private part while they are working. So far, five women have reported him but nothing has happened.

In contrast, if my coworkers or I clock out 5 minutes past the end of our shift because we had to go to the bathroom and there was a line, the same leader disciplines us and gives us a “point”. If we accumulate too many “points”, we get fired.

This year, the production quotas have increased remarkably. At the beginning of the year my coworkers and I were making under 200 servers a shift. In the last 2 months, Quanta laid off dozens of workers in my building and increased our quota to over 300 servers per shift.

While our work speeds nearly doubled, my coworkers and I have not received the annual raises we were promised when we got hired.

Management says they can demand higher rates because Quanta introduced robots that help the line move faster. While that’s technically true, management has not acknowledged that the internet and tools that we have to use are not meant to withstand the work speed managers impose on us. Our internet and scanners are always breaking down, our gloves disintegrate in less than a week, our drill points are worn out, and our bodies are in pain.

Since they increased our quotas, they also made it harder to submit grievances. To submit a complaint with HR, it has to be filtered through multiple layers of management.

Quanta workers generate all the profit for this company, and we are treated like we’re nothing. We’re not even allowed to eat comfortably or take care of ourselves.

We aren’t allowed to bring phones, period pads, or hygiene products inside the plant to use them during our break. Our break room doesn’t have enough chairs or microwaves, and our lockers don’t have doors. Therefore, our food and things we store inside the building are frequently stolen, and we aren’t allowed to access the security camera footage to collect evidence.

I don’t know how much longer my coworkers and I will put up with this. Our frustration increases alongside our workload, which doubles every time a new AI data center is announced.

We are looking for worker correspondents: cashiers, drivers, nurses, construction workers, cleaners, warehouse staff—anyone who wants to report on what’s really happening at work. Share a story, a tip, a victory, or a fightback. We’ll help you turn it into an article. Contact us at theworkerpaper@proton.me.
