Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shot 28-year-old Oscar Belgal in the neck in the Marble Hill neighborhood of New York City on October 8.
Belgal was driving his car with his five-year-old son in the backseat when ICE agents shot him. Newly-released NYPD body cam footage shows NYPD officers arriving on the scene and putting the handcuffed Belgal in the back of their vehicle while he bleeds from his neck.
The shooting occurred in a residential neighborhood in upper Manhattan while nearby schools were dismissing students.
According to NYC ICE Watch, a local anti-ICE rapid response group, one of the ICE agents involved in the shooting is Brendan Cuni, who is on the scene wearing a Hi-Vis vest and holding an assault rifle. The group says Cuni previously dragged a pregnant woman through ice and snow during Operation Metro Surge in Minnesota, forcing her to miscarry.

The Department of Homeland Security claimed that Belgal has ties to the “brutal killing” of a Customs and Border Protection (CPB) officer last year—in reference to the shooting of a CBP officer in a NYC park, which the officer survived.
Shortly after the ICE attempted murder, residents began confronting ICE and NYPD officers.
Belgal was taken to the nearby Allen Hospital, where over a hundred protesters gathered and engaged in street battles with NYPD officers. Videos on the ground show at least one police vehicle with its windshield damaged, protesters following ICE agents to their cars and attempting to drag them out, and protesters and police officers fighting across barricades.
Demonstrators standing in front of and attempting to stop ICE vehicles were cleared out by NYPD, who escorted and protected ICE vehicles and agents while violently arresting protesters.
NYC Mayor and fake socialist Zohran Mamdani held a press conference nearby the hospital denouncing the ICE abduction, despite the NYPD’s role in facilitating the kidnapping and protecting ICE. A crowd of protesters less than a block away chanted, “Mamdani you are complicit” and “Mamdani pal carajo” (Mamdani fuck off, in Spanish).
