Syrian Rocket Attacks
Two rockets launched from Syria hit the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Tuesday (06/03) in what was the first missile attack in over a year from Syria against Israel. A group calling itself the Martyr Mohammed Deif Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack, which took aim at Israeli soldiers in the occupied territory. No injuries were reported from the attack. Israel has blamed Syria’s Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa to justify its continued occupation and aggression against the country, retaliating disproportionately with artillery fire and airstrikes in southern Syria.
Al-Sharaa and his al-Qaeda affiliated organization Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) came to power in December 2024 with the support of the US and Israel, which continues to this day. In mid-May, the Trump administration along with the EU and the UK announced that they were lifting sanctions on Syria, and on May 29, the US envoy for Syria raised the US flag over the ambassador’s residence for the first time since the embassy closed in 2012.
While al-Sharaa’s administration carries out pogroms against ethnic minorities in Syria and attempts to disarm the masses, it only rhetorically condemns Israeli attacks on the country while making overtures toward friendly relations with the Zionist entity. Armed Syrians have taken it upon themselves to repel the invading Zionist hordes, with local militias successfully ambushing Israeli forces in early April.
Ansar Allah’s Aerial Blockade Continues
Minutes after the rocket attack from Syria, warning sirens blared across Israel as a missile from Yemen’s Ansar Allah entered Israeli airspace. Ansar Allah continues to impose its aerial blockade on the Zionist entity in addition to its naval blockade, vowing to escalate their intensity until Israel’s blockade on Gaza is lifted.
The aerial blockade has increasingly caused economic and psychological strain to the Zionist entity. Commercial airline monopolies continue to suspend their services to Israel, with the German airline monopoly Lufthansa Group announcing on Tuesday an extension of its service suspension at least until June 22.
Israeli Troops Annihilated in Gaza
At least three Israeli soldiers were killed and 11 others wounded in northern Gaza on Monday following what Israeli media reported as a “complex and difficult ambush” by the Palestinian resistance. The annihilated soldiers all held the rank of staff sergeant. The Israeli military reported difficulty extracting the dead and wounded after their evacuation helicopters came under intense fire from resistance forces.
The following day, Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades carried out a drone bombing against Zionist forces in the Sheja’iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, leading to at least three Israeli causalities.
Israeli forces have faced renewed and severe setbacks since the launch of their ground operation “Gideon’s Chariot” on May 18th, which aims at the full military occupation of Gaza. Israel’s military reports that Hamas still retains tens of thousands of troops, hundreds of newly manufactured missiles, and an “extensive tunnel system” that includes “active tunnels in demolished buildings that the army considered cleared”—exposing the myth of Israeli-controlled territory in Gaza.
The defeats have intensified Israel’s internal crises. On Tuesday, Israeli media reported that three Israelis have been sentenced to prison for refusing to fight in Gaza. On Wednesday morning, leading Israeli parties moved to dissolve the parliament on June 11, which would result in early elections a year ahead of schedule. The Netanyahu administration continues to sabotage ceasefire talks with Hamas, utilizing them as PR stunts hoping to blackmail the resistance, which has instead blown up in the face of the US and Israel as their genocidal hands are revealed. While the US condemned Hamas’s response to the peace talks and their demands to guarantee an end to the war and humanitarian aid from UN agencies, it alone vetoed a UN Security Council resolution on Wednesday calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and unrestricted humanitarian access.
